Latrax Alias: A beginners review

When starting out with your first high performance  drone or moving up from playing around with your minidrone there are alot of choices on the market to choose from, you want something which is high performance but caters for the beginner pilot so is durable and unlikely to break the first time you crash it.

So taking this into consideration we take a look a drone which suited to not just a beginner pilot but caters for the individuals who like to push their piloting skills to the ultimate limit, the Latrax Alias!

Ok, so lets get started! the Alias is built around a unique moulded-composite frame that is combined with clever high-tech construction to make it extremely light and virtually indestructible, perfect for beginners, which allows your flying fun to continue without the upset of breakage from crash damage the first time you take it out the box.

So its durable, what about performance?

Boasting motors which are 50% more powerful then standard ones, combined with a clever  design of lightened high tech material making it lightning quick and ultra-responsive A completely new flight control system was developed that provides unmatched 6-axis stability that works in the background without impacting performance and speed. It acts like a virtual spring that snaps Alias back to level controlled flight no matter what situation you find yourself in. New pilots can fly faster and perform aerobatic maneuvers sooner than they ever thought possible with Alias' unique flight control system.

Flight visuals

The Alias has a bright LED light installed at the rear of the drone, enabling night flight with such ease! combined with colour coded led light strips on the frame you can fly with ease knowing the position of where the alias is placed. ( tip: try flying at dusk just as the sun is going down )

The lights respond to the pilots cue from the controller with precise transmission input.

Key Features

  • 2.4GHz radio system
  • Quad-rotor thrust with auto-leveling 6-axis flight system
  • Four high-output motors – 50% more powerful than standard motors
  • High-tech molded frame
  • Molded two-piece, two-color canopy
  • Integrated bright, colorful LEDs
  • High-capacity 650mAh LiPo battery

Flying Modes?

The alias has three flying modes, easy fast and expert with the first two having self levelling integrated allowing you ease as you recover from whatever you throw at it.

The Alias is programmed to perform single flips and rolls by simply pressing a button and moving the flight stick in the direction you want to flip or roll. Forward or back flips, left or right rolls, and even diagonal flips are possible. Alias can even be programmed to perform 3 or even 5 flips or rolls at a time and recover to level flight.

Alias will rotate around its center axis (yaw) while still maintaining a virtual heading lock and normal flight control. This is an extremely difficult maneuver that even veteran pilots struggle to perform. Alias does it at the press of a button while you continue to fly normally.

Finally we have expert mode which enables a pro pilot to push the quadcopters absolute limits my manually performing these flips and rolls, without having to worry of breakage through crashing.

Additional Feature include a camera attachment and LED strip

There are also a variety of suppliers for mod components, making this a great drone to make your own.

Ok so how much are we looking at?

For a drone so versatile suiting the market for beginner enthusiasts you can find a Latrax Alias between £119 to £139

Our verdict

If you are looking for a drone that is high performance but without the fear of breakage then the Latrax Alias is a great starter drone for the masses, it will continue to impress through easy to expert mode with the ability to test your skills.
